A fruitful first term at DHS

Fruit Festival

On Thursday, January 26 DHS held its traditional Fruit Festival and social. While many view it as simply an excuse to throw rotting fruit at each other, at DHS it is a tradition which helps draw all new learners and old together and unite them in a sticky mess of fruit and molasses.
The Festival helps learners (and a few brave staff members) to shed their constricting uniforms, literally, and have some healthy fun. If you wondered about the stained and dripping learners ambling home through town on Thursday the Fruit Festival was to blame (and because most parents refused to let their filthy children back in their cars). After the Festival, a social was held for the seniors and Gr 8s, which was a great success and enabled the Gr 8s to finally become a proper part of the school.

Rolbal
Drie leerders van Dundee Hoërskool is gekies om KwaZulu-Natal te verteenwoordig met rolbal, tydens die Suid-Afrikaanse o/19 toernooi. Mbali Zulu, Rodney Xaba en Fanele Ndebele het bewys dat hul bekwaam genoeg is, om die Dundee Hoërskool op provinsiale vlak te verteenwoordig. Die toernooi gaan plaasvind in Bloemfontein, gedurende die April-vakansie.
Endumeni Spele
Die Endumeni Spele, het die naweek 28 Januarie plaasgevind. Twee leerders van Dundee Hoërskool het gouemedaljes verowertydens hierdie byeenkoms. Denita Thompson en Thoko Mchunu was deel van die span wat die u/19-Netbal afdeling, gewen het.

Congratulations to all the learners who participated in the events of the DHS Athletics day, but a special mention to the achievers of the day:
Record breakers: Sithembele Mathe (1200m Walk Bu/17); Jonathan Benjamin (1200m Walk, Bu/15); Louise Currie (1200m Walk Gu/17); Sunelle von Molendorff (Discus and ShotPut Gu/17); Simoné Groenewald (100m Hurdles Gu/17).
Laurika Pansegrouw was aangewys as die Junior Victrix Ludorum, en N.Phungula as die Senior Victrix Ludorum. Die Junior Victor Ludorum was Jonathan Benjamin, en die Senior Victor Ludorum JA Viljoen. Die dogter wat op die dag die beste presteer het was S.Von Molendorff, en Liam Robson was die seun wat die beste presteer het. Die span wat aan die einde van die dag met die silwerware weggestap het, was die Sharks.
