The shocking state of the Dundee and Dannhauser Post Offices is soon to be stamped out.
Residents have complained about the untidy appearance of the Post Office and the roofing above the boxes that is falling apart.
Some are scared that the panels will fall on top of them while they collect their mail.
Other complaints include the fact that the boxes are shabby and don't promote a good image.
With the entrance to Dundee getting a major facelift and a R50 million project earmarked for the CBD, the Post Office is falling way behind.
The new court buildings currently being constructed next to the Post Office also steal the spotlight.
Residents are hoping that the matter will be seen to and the failing infrastructure fixed.
Dannhauser Post Office is equally bad - if not worse.
The section that houses the post boxes is also home to all those who are looking for a good spot to drink alcohol in public, away from the prying eyes of the police.
Those collecting their post often comment on the stench of urine and alcohol.
The building has also been vandalised, the windowpanes shattered and lewd graffiti sprayed on the walls.
When approached for comment, Johan Kruger, Manager of External Communication for the South African Post Office, said that he would contact their maintenance officers in the province to follow up the matter.
Mr Kruger informed the Courier that the Post Office needed to go through certain processes to appoint maintenance contractors but that property managers promised that these steps would be taken as fast as possible.
Mr Kruger added that the police were also contacted regarding the individuals who use the post box area for public drinking and they have promised to monitor this situation more closely to ensure that it stops.
