Sarel Cilliers’ sizzling sport spirit

Friday, January 27 saw Sarel Cilliers' annual inter-house Athletics Day start off on high spirits. The learners and all staff members showed excellent sportsmanship and athletic ability.
Sarel Cilliers witnessed an outstanding moment in history when learner, Wenzile Thabede, completed the 400m sprint, while a truly inspired audience gave her a standing ovation. She is the tangible truth that limits do not exist and that Sarel Cilliers' learners never surrender! At the end of the day it's heart that counts, not size.
The learners were also entertained by the relay race between the teachers and prefects, where - surprisingly - the teachers taught our prefects a few tricks of the trade.
Sarel Cilliers would like to extend a huge thank-you to its learners and staff for their performance, participation and high disciplinary standards upheld at this event. The school looks forward to carrying through such high spirits for its entire academic and sporting year!

Sarel Cilliers Chess Tournament

Sarel Cilliers held a chess tournament on Saturday January 28. The children enjoyed every moment of the day. After a nail-biting seventh and eighth round Sikhona Magubane came first; Harold Siyaya second; Naledi Ncala (a new face in grade 8) came third.
Ntobeko Zondo came fourth, Malibongwe Mngoma came fifth and Mpilonhle Nxele was in sixth place.
We are looking forward to an exciting 2012.
